Places of Interest

West Somerset Railway    www.west-somerset-railway.co.uk
Is a 22.75 mile heritage railway line. Operates using both steam and diesel engines. Opened originally in 1862 between Taunton and Watchet. The station is just a 5 minute walk from us.

Hestercombe Express
Every Wednesday starting from the 1st May to the 25th September. The steam train leaves Minehead at 10:15 for Bishops Lydeard. A Vintage bus will be waiting to take you to the gardens.

Dunster Castle Express
Every Wednesday and Saturday starting from the 30th March to the 2 November. Service departs from Bishops Lydeard station at 10:25, arriving at Dunster station at 11:33. A courtesy bus will be there to take you to and from the Castle.

Cleeve Abbey
Medieval 12th Century Monastery located near Washford. Open from the 29th March onwards.

Coleridge Cottage

17th Century building situated in Nether Stowey, was the home of Samuel Taylor Coleridge a romantic poet.  There is a gentle 5 mile walk, for the energetic called the Parson’s Nose.  Watchet famous for its Ancient Mariner is nearby and also boasts a marina and selection of shops.

Selworthy Village 

This picturesque village with its thatched roofed cottages is part of the National Trusts’ Holnicote Estate.  Great views can be seen from the 14th Century Church of All Saints.  Neighbouring villages Bossington and Allerford are also worth a visit.
